How Graphene Foliates Improve the Performance Stability of Carbon Nanotubes
This study explores how growing graphene foliates on carbon nanotubes—creating a hybrid structure—impacts their ability to emit electrons for electronic applications. The researchers discovered a clear trade-off based on the density of the graphene foliates : while adding more foliates significantly improves emission stability and prevents sudden power fluctuations, it also blocks the highly efficient sharp tips of the nanotubes. As a result, a higher voltage is required to jump-start the current, demonstrating that manufacturers must carefully balance foliate density to achieve the optimal mix of energy efficiency and long-term performance stability.
